Mother’s Day Eve Haul

I’m pretty proud of my recent haul, if I may say so myself. It wasn’t one of my best, but it was pretty darn good. How did I get so much for so little, you ask? Well, since you’re asking…

This Saturday, I woke up and checked my email and made the rounds checking my apps like I usually do. It’s my way of tricking myself into being somewhat productive without having to get out of my comfy, cozy bed.

I saw a couple of things that grabbed my eye:

  • Michael’s sent me a 60% off coupon for Saturday only
  • Staples sent me $5 off any cleaning supply product, expiring Saturday
  • Staples also sent me $5 to thank me for being in their Rewards program
  • Starbucks’ half-price frappuccino happy hour was going on

“Well,” I thought to myself, “guess it’s time to treat myself.” I told my boyfriend I was going out and asked him if he wanted to come with. Even though I know how much he *loves* Michael’s, he politely declined. Since he felt bad that I was going alone, he gave me $10 and told me to treat myself (Do you see a common theme here? It’s like the universe wanted me to go out and buy stuff!). He’s so sweet. πŸ’– I decided to use that $10 as a spending goal, to try to limit myself so I wouldn’t go too crazy at the store. Even though I went over budget just a smidge, I still think I did a pretty good job…

I got:

Total worth: $41.25
I spent: $11.49

Extreme Couponing: planner supplies edition. (okay, so it's not extremely extreme couponing. More like moderate couponing. But still pretty good couponing!)

Sorry the paper trimmer is out of the packaging. That baby was out of the packaging almost IMMEDIATELY when I got home. I’m so happy I finally got it. It makes nice, clean cuts, and there’s a little wire the floats above your paper so you can see EXACTLY where you’re going to cut. Seriously, this thing is the best. Anyways…

How did I spend so little on so much?

At Staples, everything was free because of the two $5 coupons they sent me. I got the bleach wipes, green discs, and Reese’s for free. Why the Reese’s? Because I had $1.49 left to spend and because CHOCOLAAATE!!! 🍫 That’s why. πŸ˜‚ Thanks, Staples!! πŸ˜ƒπŸ’•

At Michael’s, I used my 60% off coupon on the paper cutter to make it $8.00, and the other two items were on clearance. The Happy Planner calendar extension was $2.99, and the feather charms were $0.50!

Oh yeah, and the frappuccinos. They were free because I had a gift card (thanks, mom!) πŸ’– I brought one back for my boyfriend to thank him for the $10! He was pretty impressed that I (more or less) stuck to my budget and got so much for so little!

      1. I was surprised with the number of accessories they sell that could work with the Happy Planner! They even carry some Martha Stewart products that can be used with the discs. Have fun shopping! πŸ’•
