Free Planner Printable: AIM

Do you guys remember the sound the internet used to make when you were connecting? That “fuzzy” sound, then “beep boop beep… beep boop beep beep boop”. Then some whirring sound, then another fuzzy sound…. “Welcome! You’ve got mail!”

Yeah, I was an AOL user. I don’t exactly remember when AIM was released as a stand-alone program, but I remember spending hours chatting on AIM. By that point, I don’t think we had dial-up anymore. Gosh, do you remember how you couldn’t be on the phone and the internet at the same time? ๐Ÿ˜‚

Everyone had AIM. And I mean everyone. Even my grandma! My friends and I used to chat on AIM all the time. Back in those days, we didn’t have cell phones. Some of our parents did, but we mostly relied on landlines to talk with friends. But problem with that was that we could only talk to one friend at a time. I remember our parents always yelling at us for 3-way calls; I guess they were more expensive or something. We used to switch off being the one who initiated the 3-way call. ๐Ÿ˜‚ AIM was the perfect solution! I could talk to many of my friends all at once. We could even make private chat rooms!

Then when we finally all got cell phones, we still preferred AIM for a number of reasons. For starters, we had a limited number of texts we could send and receive per month, if we even had texting included in our cell phone plan. ๐Ÿ˜‚ And on top of that, we had to text with a number pad. No QWERTY keyboards for us. No touch screens, either.

All the cool kids had this phone. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

So… all this reminiscing is cool and all, but what does this have to do with this week’s freebie? Well… I am greatly saddened by this news, but… today AIM was shut down. For good. AOL made the announcement a few months ago that they were shutting down AIM for good on December 15th. Even though I haven’t logged into AIM in years… it still makes me sad. I think the last time I used AIM was probably about 10 years ago, but I’m still sad to see it go (wow, do I feel old ๐Ÿ˜ฑ).

Anywho, I made a printable to honor AIM. It may be gone, but it will never be forgotten. โค

AIM - Free Planner Printable for Classic Happy Planner #planner #printable #plannerprintable #freeprintable #freeplannerprintable #happyplanner #AIM #AOL #messenger #nostalgia #90s #only90skidswillremember #the90s #nostalgic #travelersnotebook #bujo #bulletjournal #travelersnotebook #erincondren

I could have chose a more recent version of AIM to honor it… but I decided to do a super throwback. If you look closely, the chat boxes are Windows 98 style. Anybody else remember Windows 98? *cue Windows 98 startup sound*

Speaking of sounds… I can hear the little incoming message sound just by looking at the printable! ๐Ÿ˜ญ Still can’t believe it’s gone… I made a cute little mock conversation for one of the full day boxes, and included 2 empty ones so that you can write where the text would be. I also turned the “Edit Away Message” pop-up window into a double day box. I liked these little boxes so much, I’ve included a second sheet with just these empty boxes for you to use. (:

Anyways… this printable contains:

  • 8 full decorative boxes
  • 2 half boxes
  • 7 hydrate trackers
  • 7 “today” headers
  • 7 “to-do” headers
  • 7 checklist ribbons
  • 4 habit trackers
  • 1 weekend banner
  • 1 washi strips

As always, this printable is free for personal, non-commercial use. That means you can’t sell it or use it in any way to make money or anything like that! I found all of the images with a Google search!

Not sure how printables work? Once you get the hang of it, it’s easy peasy! Think of printables as DIY stickers! I recommend printing my printables on Avery 8.5″ x 11″ Shipping Labels. You can cut them out with a craft cutter machine (like a Silhouette or Cricut), with a paper trimmer, or with scissors! Don’t have sticker paper? Not a problem! Print it out on regular 8.5″ 11″ printer paper (sometimes called copy paper), and use a glue stick to stick it in your planner. The products linked are the ones that I personally use!

If you use this printable, please share it on Pinterest! If you reeeaallly love this printable, consider buying me a cup of coffee to say thanks! โ˜•๐Ÿ’•
