Hiya, everyone! If you haven’t read my previous posts, I’m playing “catch up”, sharing my weekly and monthly spreads in my planner. Instead of making one super-long blog post with all of my weekly and monthly spreads until I’m all caught up, I decided to group a couple weekly spreads into a couple of posts so it wouldn’t be overwhelming.
Today I’m going to be sharing all my weekly spreads from March! The first day of Spring was this month, so you’ll see a lot of plant-themed spreads!
March 2018 – Week 1
Oh my goodness, did I love this weekly spread! Sometimes it’s nice to do a no-kit spread. I only used washi tape for this week! This was supposed to be a #beforethepen pic, but I started filling in my sidebar before I remembered to snap a pic! Whoops!
I found the quote in the bottom left corner while browsing Pinterest one day. It really spoke to me, because I often hesitate to make decisions for fear of making the wrong decision. It’s something I’m working on… slowly but surely.
When I first copied the quote down, the source image didn’t say where the quote was from. But after doing a little digging on the internet, I learned that it’s a Chinese proverb.
If you can’t read my handwriting, it says “Be not afraid of going slowly, be afraid only of standing still”.
I really love the fonts that were used for the dates in the top margins, so I didn’t want to cover them up too much with the washi. I tried to carefully trace over them with a black gel pen. It worked a little better on the right page than it did on the left page. 😅 It’s not perfect, and that’s okay! I still had a lot of fun decorating this weekly spread.
You can barely see it in the picture but I somehow managed to tear the page in the Saturday column, near the middle of the bottom most box. That circle checklist washi is serving a double purpose– not only is it functional, but it’s also holding the little tear together! 😅
And… can we please talk about that super-gorgeous mint green pen really quick? I had seen a lot of planner girls using similar-looking pens– pens filled with a bunch of tiny little diamonds. I don’t know why I needed a pen filled with a bunch of tiny diamonds, but I just did! 💎
One day I found a couple at Michael’s! They came in black, white, pink, and mint green. At first I thought I wanted the pink one because pink is my favorite color, but I was inexplicably drawn to this mint green one! (I totally went back and got the pink one a few months later!) These pens were $5.00 at Michael’s which is totally affordable! You could even use a coupon to score a better deal!
March 2018 – Week 2
I had so much fun decorating the previous week… I just kept going and decorated the next week! I didn’t want to use exactly the same washi as the previous week, so I tried to mix it up a little. I decided to use some plant-themed washi with rose gold foiling because duh!! Rose gold foiling!! 😍
Just like in the previous week’s spread, I left one of the bottom margins uncovered so I could see the cute flower doodles that came printed in my planner. Admittedly, I think they looked better in the first week than they did in this week’s spread, because the washi from the first week had more pink in it. Oh well! I still like it! 😜
The planner I’m using this year is the “Happy Mind Happy Life” Classic Happy Planner by Me & My Big Ideas. It’s no longer offers this planner on their website (probably because we’re about halfway through 2018 and this is a dated planner), but if you’re interested you can check it out on Amazon.
Remember what I was just saying about not wanting to cover up the dates because I really liked the fonts? Yeah… about that. 😅 I tried carefully tracing over the dates with a black gel pen, but ended up smudging the ink. So I didn’t even bother trying with this week. My planner spreads aren’t perfect, but planning isn’t about perfection. It’s about being organized and having a creative outlet! 💖
March 2018 – Week 3
If you’ve been following my blog for a while, you might recognize the printable I used for this week! I used the Minty Pink Hello Kitty printable because the Riverside Planner Girls‘ Hello Kitty Themed Planner Meetup was this week! 🎉
I promise the printable is way cuter than it looks in this picture. Not only was my printer running out of ink, but the lighting was also really weird, too. But I still think it turned out pretty cute nonetheless, because you can’t go wrong with Hello Kitty!
Almost everything you see here was from the printable… except for a couple strips of washi tape. As much as I love the little flower doodles in the bottom margin, the colors were too dark to match with this kit. So I covered them up with one of my favorite washi tapes: a pastel pink and green floral washi tape! Since it’s kinda transparent, you could still see the printed flower doodles underneath the washi. So… I put another piece of washi over it!
I sometimes struggle with word washi. It’s really cute, but I just don’t know where to put it or how to pair it with other decorations. I think I totally nailed it in this case. 💖
Still with me? I know this is quite a bit for one blog post, but I promise we’re almost at the end! I’ve got just one more week to share with you, and it’s super pretty!! 😍
March 2018 – Week 4
The first day of spring was this week, so I knew I wanted a planner spread that was super springy! It had to be full of bright florals, but I also wanted some cute little critters in there too… like hummingbirds (my favorite bird!)!
The kit I used for this week is called “Hello Spring“!
I absolutely love the picture with the hummingbird. 💕 We get a lot hummingbirds by my house, and I feel so lucky to be able to sit at my window and watch them zoom around. They are just the tiniest, cutest little birds ever!
They come around our house so often, I can even pick out what a hummingbird sounds like! Have you ever heard a hummingbird’s chirp before? It’s pretty much what you would expect out of the world’s tiniest, cutest little flying bird– it sounds like a little squeak! 😍
One of the hummingbird’s mating rituals is also really really cute (pretty much because anything they do is super cute!) When the male hummingbird sees a female that catches his eye, he tries to impress her. He does this by flying high up in the sky, then diving down as quickly as he can. When he does this, his tail feathers separate in such a way so that the wind passing through them creates a tiny squeak-like noise. Not sure if this is a standard mating ritual across all hummingbirds, or just the ones near me.
Do you know how to tell the males from the females? Generally speaking, the males tend to have more brightly-colored, iridescent feathers, while the females are less flashy.
I try to stay away from images that might make people uncomfortable, like bugs. But… that little bumblebee was just too cute! I mean… what is he doing?! He’s grabbing onto two flower stalks! Why is he doing that?! 😂
And I couldn’t resist that picture of the round little birdie. He’s almost perfectly circular! He’s just a little bird puff! 💕 Okay, okay. I’ll stop gushing over the lil’ cuties in the printable. This blog post is long enough as it is! 😅
Whew, speaking of which, how are you guys doing? I know this was a lot! 🙈 There’s still one week left in April, but I decided I would group it with other weekly spreads. And did you notice how I didn’t share a monthly spread? It’s because I didn’t decorate my April monthly spread! I always seem to neglect my monthly spreads. Oh well.
